I am a Veteran who was born in Woodridge, IL and now live in Peoria. I served both in the Army and in the Illinois National Guard, where I served multiple deployments during the First Gulf War. Now I give back to my community by hiring Veterans at my small business. These Veterans have served our nation and they deserve all the help we can provide them, but they have been failed by Bruce Rauner’s administration.
How has Bruce Rauner failed? He failed by focusing on destroying unions and not helping the people who need it the most, like Veterans. Multiple deployments can be hard on Veterans and their families, but Rauner’s budget crisis cut funding for mental health services. Rauner’s administration has also failed to highlight businesses and job opportunities for Veterans. Because of his focus on his special interest agenda, Rauner can’t see the benefits Veterans can bring to our state or address the unique difficulties they may face.
We need a new governor who has the right priorities for Veterans, and JB will be that governor. Instead of focusing on attacking unions and working people like Rauner, JB will work to provide job opportunities to all and support our state’s heroes. JB will strengthen the social services Veterans desperately need and fight every day for those who have served our nation.
